The Under Armour Curry 2 "Surprise Party" sneaker releases under the Curry 2 line on March 15, 2016. The Curry 2 "Surprise Party" is being released in the honor of Stephen Curry's birthday which is March 14. He will be sporting them during that night's game. The Warriors and Curry are on track to make history by breaking the NBA's greatest winning record that is 73-9.
Stephen Curry has been under contract with Under Armour and is expected to sell over $165 million in sneakers. 10 more million then Nike's biggest star Lebron James. Of course, Nike has a hand full of other athletes signed to themselves, but that's okay, Curry outsells them all as well by more than Lebron's. Not Kevin D's, Kobe's or any other Nike star that could possibly be named.
A big part of this is because of Curry's hype and his relatively affordable sneaker line. Ever since Curry signed with Under Armour, Under Armour has been able to release a reputable line of sneakers for Curry that only cost $130. Of course, UA has a few more expensive ones, but these more expensive ones are what's tying Nike's regular release prices. Under Armour's Highlight Drive 2's which are of a super high ankle design, runs right around $220 plus tax. While every traditional release of Lebron's, KD's and many others clock in over $200. KD does not have as expensive models though to his credit.
Steph Curry is probably known as the hottest NBA player right now in the game. His perimeter shooting ability is outstanding and unheard of. It's not so crazy to think that just one guy can change a whole game, but Curry can. On all of Curry's hot nights, which are usually every night, the guy can drop 25 footers if not longer plain as day and probably not even think about it. Curry's admirable skill at the PG position is truly one of a kind and there's really no one else like him in the game today.
The Surprise Party colorway in the Curry 2 is actually relatively attracting to me. I definitely like it and think what he has done with the colors sorta remind you of the upcoming Nike NCS's for the March Madness tournament.
